In today's news, Silvio Berlusconi has ordered (not asked, fucking directed!!!!!) all Italian ISP's to block the DNS resolution to the Swedish website PirateBay.org.

Now, those of you who have never downloaded large files may not know of a technology called BitTorrent. What this technology does is allow for very large files to be downloaded in very small peices, from other peoples computers directly! Not from a server, from average folks like you and me.

For example, I love Linux! The software is free to the world!!! All you need to get it is a web-browser. But, if you want the latest and greatest version, you need to download the developer updates. These updates are published using BitTorrent. So, if you don't want to wait until 2010 (it's 2008 as of this article!) for the next version of M$ Windows, get the latest operating system (OS) NOW via BitTorrent.

BitTorrent has got alot of bad press lately. Yes you can download illegal music, movies and TV shows. But many people use BitTorrent to publish there own stuff!!! Software, there own music (free), there own movies (again, free), etc.

Well, Silvio Berlusconi has decided that his media nazi's are going to start offering movies and TV via the internet. It will be a paid service, but you can get whatever you want, in any language. Problem is, if people who already use BitTorrent know they can get this now, and for free, why pay shit-for-brains anything???

He's come up with the solution to this. Read this article. What he's instructed all Italian ISP's to do is block the number 1 BitTorrent tracker website. PirateBay.org is a Swedish website. They host the tracker files need to download files from the world wide web!
